So, I know, enough with the retro pictures, but I think this Babe Paley picture really proves a point. For the longest time, it’s been about a big necklace.

But what about a jangly bunch of mix-matched bracelets instead?

I decided I’d follow in her footsteps and pulled out my strand of white pearls that had been my grandmother’s, which I would never wear around my neck. I wrapped them around my wrist three times along with my gold Cartier love bracelet, my stainless steel Rolex watch and a couple of old bangles. I thought of adding on an old black leather Hermès leather wrap-around bracelet, but it just didn’t seem right.

I like the idea of mixing metals and materials–leather, gold, stainless…enamel. Most likely you can just shop from your own jewelry box. And I think it certainly doesn’t all need to be fancy–something personal, like a friendship bracelet from your daughter or latest boyfriend works too.

This woman below, is close to be being a modern day Babe–bracelets and all–don’t you think?
