Preston’s October To Do List

"Secretariat" with Diane Lane
1. Take my pony crazed daughter to see “Secretariat”.
2. I bought my first Marimekko dress at the groundbreaking Design Research store in Cambridge, Mass when I was about six. D/R was founded by Ben Thompson, an architect who worked with Walter Gropius. The store closed many years ago but I read in T Magazine that a book has just been published entitled “Design Research: The Store that Brought Modern Living to American Homes”.
3. Replace the Lanvin boots I thought I could not live without this fall. They are gorgeous but sadly, not gorgeous on me.
4. In an earlier post Jennifer and I went to Privet House in Greenwich, Connecticut. This month I want to check out their other store in Warren, Connecticut.

5. Walk. Tried yoga, hated it. Same for Spinning and Pilates. I am going to put some music on my iphone and just walk.

Ha. I was dragged to a bring-a-friend-to-yoga night and it just reinforced I am anti-gym and would prefer to get any exercise naturally — by walking.
It was funny because it totally reminded me of sitting in front of the VCR when I was 16 working out to Jane Fonda! No thanks.
I’m with the French women of the world, I’d rather sit in a cafe and people watch then spend my time doing that!
Am so enjoying your blog. Older than you both (50something) A word about exercise: Walking is the best, but for long term strength and balance-give pilates another chance. Finding the right studio and instructor make all the difference. I got lucky and found a great teacher right away but when she moved I struggled to find another I liked as well. It took time but then doesn’t everything worth while?
