Hit and Miss

Elle Macpherson

Elle on a school run

Like Jennifer I am doing a bit of spring shopping and will buy mostly from the resort collections.  I am waiting for a Celine top and skirt and a Derek Lam top (that I already know will not be right). However, now that it is cold my recent purchases are in the spotlight. Even though I loved a lot of the fall offerings, I bought carefully and for the most part am thrilled with my purchases.

Hit: Louis Vuitton “Delightful” bag. I never ever thought I would carry a monogram bag, but this is the ultimate hobo and I have done very little bag rotation since I got it. It gets 5 stars!

Near Miss:  Jeans have been my bugaboo. It is a bad sign when I buy something and then start tinkering with it and take it to the tailor more than once. A few pairs of jeans got shoved into the Goodwill box after I tried to recut them without success. Believe it or not, I bought a pair of  jeggings and unless you bump into me on a school run or in Whole Foods, you will not see me in them.  I was desperate to find a comfortable alternative to yoga pants for doing errands and jeggings fit the bill. Enviably, Elle above wears the perfect pants for running around.

Miss: Lanvin moccasin boots. Loved them and was willing to wear them despite the fact that they gave me elephant legs. Fortunately I came to my senses and returned them before I had worn them.

  1. I think only Elle can get away with that outfit. I hate it personally, too much fur! The jegging are great, but you need the legs for them in my opinion. I also am not a fan of monogram but the shape of the LV bag is gorgeous. I would even contemplate on getting one. Might head to my nearest LV store and check one out! Glad you returned the Lanvin moccasin boots..would have been an expensive mistake otherwise. They’re horrible looking.

  2. If you are 5’9, slender, and gorgeous you can wear a paper bag and look good! It’s the rest of us who are a little less than perfect who need to be more selective…Not all of fashion’s “must haves” work on this 5’4 slightly pearish frame!! I too, need an alternative to my yoga pants and sweats….Afraid the jeggings will be awful on my frame…Anyone suggest a brand with a higher rise and not like spandex??

  3. I think fur is always a poor choice. Why wear something that offends so many people? Unless that’s the wearer’s intention.
