Lighten up

Chanel Le Blanc Essentiel
Everywhere I turn lately, I feel like I am reading yet another article about new skin lightening products meant to lessen brown spots and freckles. I also feel like women I have been meeting of late all have the most amazing, blemish-free, freckle-less, dewy skin. Just last week Preston and I had a meeting with someone whose skin was so fantastic, I was fixated. (I am going to make her divulge her secrets and share!)
So in my quest for better skin, I’m going to try one of these new lightening creams and see if they will work their magic on all the freckles I’ve had forever and the stubborn brown spots I didn’t have until a couple of years ago. My low-maintenance skin care used to work just fine, but now I feel like perfect-looking skin (and I am not talking wrinkle-free, Botoxed-up to the eyeballs here) has become a status symbol if you will. Scoring the right Céline bag is probably more easily achievable, but having clean dewy skin definitely has more health benefits.

try shaving and using revision tinted moisturezer.
I adore your writings. They are little gems. Re the lightening, try a combo of renova, Paula’s Choice exfoliants, religious sunscreen use, and IPL. Thanks again for your blog!
medical strength ipl is the way to go. totally changed my skin. then maintain with topical products – but alone products won’t get you there.
Hi there, I am a huge fan of your posts and I am writing today because this is something that I can finally contribute to your great posts. I am a plastic surgeon and I treat all sorts of skin problems from wrinkles to brown spots in addition to the usual liposuction, breast aug, tummy tuck type of patient. And, I wanted to tell you that the over the counter or department store grade products that treat brown spots are usually not enough to really make a difference. IPL is an incredible treatment for uneven skin tones, sun damage, some types of brown and red spots and for fine lines…it’s great without any down time. Then, there are other lasers that are a little more involved than IPL but are very variable in what they are capable of achieving. My advice is before spending alot of money on fancy brand creams that are purchased at high end stores, I recommend seeing a doc who treats this sort of thing…there are creams that help with discoloration that are perscription strength and sometimes even covered by insurance. And, IPL is also a great option for the right skin. So, believe it or not, it’s sometimes more cost effective to get a medical opinion than to waste money on over the counter products that promise alot but give little in return…now, onto more fashion advice from experts like you!! Thanks for your posts…I love them!
I am obsessed with great skin and the above post by the doctor is so true. I found an amazing dermatologist & make sure I go for 6 monthly appointments to keep on top of things.
I’ve found a laser treatment called YAG to be so brilliant both the nurse and I gasped when we compared my before and after photos. It treats spots and actually helps reduce pore size!
I love your blogs by the way. Always stylish
I didn’t find the “article” in your link. Is that what passes for journalism these days? Looks like free publicity courtesy of the NYTimes.
