A Cartier classic returns

Aldo Cipullo for Cartier
How much do I love Cartier jewelry? I could go on for days. So when I read (in the March issue of Harper’s Bazaar) that they are relaunching the Juste un Clou (“Just a nail”) bracelet, designed by Aldo Cipullo, the Roman jeweler who created their iconic Love bracelet in 1969 (I wear one, courtesy of my lovely husband), I nearly fell off my chair.
I’ve been circling buying a vintage one, which come up every now and then. But perhaps it is fortuitous that the bracelet is relaunching next month right around my birthday. (Hint, hint!)

I OWN AN ORIGINAL NAIL 18K GOLD BRACELET
SIGNED 1971 ALDO CIPULLO, 53 DIAMNDS ON THE ENTIRE NAIL HEAD
So tempting but can’t decide between white or yellow…
We all known how talented Aldo Cipullo was, The Love Collection, Juste un Clou, and so many others.
However few of us know let alone have ever see pieces from his Friendship Collection.
One night while sitting at Tino’s (one of his favorite places) at dinner with Aldo he was inspired by his friendship with my ex-wife Deborah Flessas Fleck and myself. He excitedly spoke of wanting to create a collection that celebrated our great friendship. “Because” he said “What besides Love is important. . Great Friends”.
Some months later at another dinner with Aldo I remember him holding Deborah’s hand and slipping on her wrist the first one off and custom made for her original bracelet of the collection. It was truly beautiful. thin, elegant gold with two small diamonds that hid a secret hinged closure. It was truly a thing of beauty and he was so proud and excited to slip on her wrist telling her that our friendship with each other had truly inspired him. She still owns and covets this simple and beautiful example of our friends work. We both miss him terribly
