Easy and timeless run-around pieces

I have not bought a cocktail dress or evening-specific item since I-don’t-know-when. Daywear is my priority and that’s what I spend my money on. I buy three-season investment pieces that are somewhat classic. Perfect example, the cashmere poncho, above, which I will wear all year long (even over shorts and a tee on a cool summer evening). Ditto the perfect skinny jeans and cute flats.

Jeans, Current/Elliott; Earrings, Monica Vinader; Poncho, Inhabit; Tote, Sophie Hulme; Flats, Givenchy; Bracelet, Givenchy.

  • I love your style. It is very refined and chic! That poncho from Inhabit is so stylish but classic.

  • I’m just learning to do this, I almost splurged when I saw the new white Preen dress on Net a Porter yesterday but I have to stay focused on good quality everyday clothes which I am actually seen in rather than fantasy dresses which come out twice a year.

  • Went straight from your site to Inhabit and bought the cozy poncho/sweater. Thanks!

  • Lucky you Kathy!
I live in this style as well….love the black flats, but would love to see gray/black subtle animal print low boots with it!!

  • Love this look! Definitely great for a mom-on-the-go like me. I have a question about flats, though. Is it OK to wear them with socks? I always put my flats away once the weather gets cold in late fall because somehow they don’t look right to me unless they’re worn with bare feet. I’d love your thoughts on this style conundrum.

  • When it gets too cold for flats (no socks please), I would wear a low heeled bootie instead.

  • I agree with mad dash , would like to see more posts like these, shopping ONLY for modern classics is an art, one I’m not very skillful at. Keep spending money but later on I have nothing to wear.
