So, what’s next?

Next up, pre-fall. Pieces are slowly coming into the stores now. It’s coined the money-maker season for designers because the clothes tend to be less fashion-forward, i.e. wearable and evergreen. Here are my personal “hits” from this tiny, but mighty, season.

The cape is still a strong silhouette and the crocheted ones at Valentino are gorgeous. The Saint Laurent duffel would be perfect for running around.

The Calvin Klein Collection show was a stand-out in my book; I especially love the belting.

Black and white ruled the catwalks and I love the buttoned-up sensibility of The Row look left and Proenza Schouler right.

Four strong pants looks– Clockwise: Givenchy, Narciso Rodriguez, Celine, and Stella McCartney.

Need to be amazonian in height to carry-off the extreme layering trend this fall from Givenchy, Celine, Dries, and others.

Three sharp and wearable dresses from Thakoon, Proenza, and Narciso.

  • The Narcisco pants would be a good transitional piece. I can see a Saint Laurant duffle in my future…what color would be your choice??

  • Nary a black tight , opaque stocking or legging in sight this season…what do you think, Preston…are they going to be passé this coming fall and winter? Would love your opinion.

  • Nancy, good observation. I noticed both dresses and tops had high neck-lines, which are very European to me. Is it a trend as well?
