About the bag

Last evening I wore the boxy Stella McCartney top over a full Proenza skirt from last year and the Aquazzura pumps. It’s about as over-sized a silhouette as I can carry at 5’5″. Continuing with my personal challenge to wear more of what I already have, I tucked my beige jersey Chanel bag under my arm clutch-like. And it didn’t feel right.

I’m sure it looked fine, but it felt old. I would have much preferred this Saint Laurent instead.

  • Preston, I’m sure you looked amazing – but I’m wondering exactly what you meant about the Chanel feeling old. Old as in you’ve had it a long time, or old as in matronly? And now that the moment has passed, are you considering purchasing the Saint Laurent clutch for future events?

  • I know you focus on casual wear, but how about some inspiration for event dressing? I seem to have an autumn full of luncheons, day weddings, and evening parties and can’t seem to pull it together.

  • I think that bag is in your future. If you budget allows for it and you see yourself using it a good bit, don’t fight it. Feeling fresh and modern in your style is a great feeling.

  • Sounds like a swell night, but I know exactly what you mean.

  • Every time I read a book or a blog that emphasizes the “freedom” of minimalism or not buying new clothes, I roll my eyes a little, because in my experience sometimes it can be a real struggle to re-use the same things. Preston, am sure you looked great (the outfit sounds amazing). This clutch is great too 😉

  • I love the idea of building a wardrobe on well made, flattering classics. But it does seem that you need something new every now and again or you feel stale and boring.
