They make it look so easy

The French editors that is. A top, pants, and pumps, how easy is that– but then why don’t I look like that? I know, I know, height and confidence certainly help.

Un”done” hair, not too many accessories, and smiles. Tres chic!

  • I’m sure you DO look like that.

    I love your blog!

  • As a “femme d’une certain age,” I would trade pumps for ballerinas or boots. Haven’t decided if I like to see women over 60 in jeans and pumps.

    KrisOctober 29th, 2013  7:04 AM

  • They do look cool don’t they 😉

    Vanessa VinosOctober 29th, 2013  7:06 AM

  • and slim thighs! and I am sure you look as stylish.

    ClaireOctober 29th, 2013  7:28 AM

  • We may not all be tall, slim and stunning looking- but this look can be taken and translated to suit all ages and sizes. The amazing thing they all have in common is the simplicity of their outfits. Jeans/ slim pants, shirt/sweatshirt, pumps, neutral colours. How easy is that…..

    MelanieOctober 29th, 2013  7:34 AM

  • I like the anti “it” bag statement

    MMOctober 29th, 2013  7:45 AM

  • Hear hear on the height, I never look anything like that either.

    Tabitha@bourbonpearlsOctober 29th, 2013  7:55 AM

  • of all, prefer the anklet/kitten heel/all black look

    louiseOctober 29th, 2013  9:01 AM

  • I think it’s partially because French women know what looks good on their body types, and they only buy clothes that fit them perfectly. I know periodically I buy a pair of “right now” pants because I need them instead of holding out for the perfectly right pants.

    illysia from MadlyChic.comOctober 29th, 2013  9:14 AM

  • And the luxe of the unencumbered! Too cool to need the pedestrian accoutrements of bags, notebooks, etc.

    SamanthaOctober 29th, 2013  9:27 AM

  • …….and bras, bien sur!

    heatherOctober 29th, 2013  10:57 AM

  • I like the kitten pumps with pants, but am over the higher heel. It just seems so passe.

    MargoOctober 29th, 2013  11:20 AM

  • They do look attractive. I am a little old-fashioned. I only wear flats or stack heel boots.

    elenaOctober 29th, 2013  11:23 AM

  • Less really IS More…LOVE!!!!

    Virginia WilliamsOctober 29th, 2013  12:13 PM

  • I say the same thing, I have an inspiration board and post things and think, God they make it look so easy and it’s not!

    AnitaOctober 29th, 2013  12:27 PM

  • Women over 60 wearing jeans and pumps (or flats or boots) – if the jeans fit well and they look good (which is totally possible), why not? That is my uniform…and I am over 60!

    bisbeeOctober 29th, 2013  12:29 PM

  • There’s a lot to be said for sticking to what suits you!

    BeccaOctober 29th, 2013  2:19 PM

  • yay bisbee! i agree – it’s a classic look!!
and i also agree that i bet you are tres chic preston!

    angie larnedOctober 29th, 2013  3:54 PM

  • As a french woman, I can just agree with you, I love their style and this is quite our uniform. My favorite is Capucine… for her je-ne-sais-quoi that is more elegant than the others Voguettes… and she is not tall!

    IsabelleOctober 29th, 2013  4:56 PM

  • tall, skinny and small boobs!

    ameeOctober 29th, 2013  5:27 PM

  • As much as I love this look, it’s also boring – they are clones of each other. Le sigh

    PouletteOctober 29th, 2013  6:30 PM

  • I love the long flowing undone hair sans pony…confirms my belief that the carefree style of adolescence is timeless.

    SoniaOctober 29th, 2013  6:49 PM

  • I love the look of the high heels with pants, but my feet can’t take it … so it’s the kittens or the boots or flats.
.. does this mean I don’t have to blow-dry my hair?

    GayleOctober 30th, 2013  12:18 AM

  • So easy and chic. Love it!

  • So chic! It all comes down to attitude.

I love visiting your blog; you have such a lovely aesthetic and taste!

    Have a great day.

    Helen@thestylescheduleOctober 30th, 2013  5:09 AM

  • In my mind that’s what I look like, in real life I’m vertically and thigh challenged. But I love that the lady on the far right still looks just as sleek and stylish even with baggier jeans and a boxier sweater. Just goes to show it’s all in your attitude. Thankfully not just the scale or the tape measure. Cheers, Laura from http://www.cocktailsandgelato.com

  • They all look fabulous!!! So jealous of how effortlessly French women all look stunning!!! Any idea who makes the shoes the woman second from the left end is wearing?? Love love love all of them!! 🙂

    michelleOctober 30th, 2013  9:39 AM

  • In spanish we say “menos es más” (“less is more”). Gorgeous!

    MenchuOctober 30th, 2013  9:58 AM

  • The French do it best – understated, cool, chic. Love it!

    PythiaOctober 30th, 2013  12:18 PM

  • It makes me wonder where they put everything–is there a minion scurrying somewhere behind? Also, I think the other 3 really benefit from Emmanuelle Alt’s aura. Power in numbers!

    joannawnycOctober 30th, 2013  12:34 PM

  • It is SO true! Yet again inspired by your post I had to blog about you this morning: http://citrusandcedars.com/2013/10/30/inspiration/

Absolutely inspiring to analyze their style – they certainly have all of the “basic staples” I need to circle back into my closet! Not to mention they make it look so effortless.

    CaitlinOctober 30th, 2013  12:56 PM

  • I’m always reminded to keep it simple by the French Vogue crew.
However, sometimes I think, they are “French Vogue”; I should be more awed by what they are putting together not just finding my run around outfits! I miss seeing Carine and Co. in more stylish simplicity. Chicness worthy of the brand.
They are so predictable these days

    AliNovember 9th, 2013  2:32 PM

  • Very simplistic and chic. I am one that does not like wearing jeans or pants, this is just my own personal choice and opinion but I think wearing a skirt and blouse with pumps is more feminine to me, which is what I wear on a daily basis. Do not even own a pair of pants. Just curious but do the majority of French women wear jeans and pants rather than skirts and dresses?
