Styling Tip

Tie One On

Christmas, both girls’ birthdays, and school applications– needless to say, we are staying close to home. One of the reasons we went to London in November was I knew this holiday would be a bit crazy.

So, I found a horse both girls can ride, we are exploring the nooks and crannies of the city we don’t already frequent, catching up on movies, and reading the great new books that were under the tree. On New Year’s Eve we will be celebrating with just close friends and family which takes the pressure off finding something new and fabulous to wear.

But I do want to “freshen up” an old standby and I’m inspired by this story from the July issue of British Vogue. My black lace Valentino sheath cinched with a wide satin ribbon would do the trick.

  • p- happy new year! you have made my 2013 all the better with your daily blog posts, your kindness and your chic take on style. you have the best blog out there- no question. I’m inspired and feel somewhat validated with every post. sometimes it feels like we are islands on our own out there, but you have built a beautiful bridge. most certainly if ladies follow your advice and these elegant pictures for new years, and wear a D & G , Valentino, Nina Ricci, or a Rochas suit and tie a substantial bow around their waist they will most certainly be the stand-out in the room. damn, i might even try it! ha! happy new years to all- make it fun and “keep it chic”- xo Mark D. • I’m a ribbon loving girl, too!

Mark D Sikes blog and your blog are my favourite daily hits of style and elegance. You both have an unerring eye and sort out the wheat from the chaff, so to speak.

    Happy New Year!
