My Music

Arctic Monkeys, Nirvana, And Red Hot Chili Peppers

arctic-monkeys-am-cover

Last week my friend Marisa of Stylebeat blog and I were chatting about new music. We both love Arctic Monkeys, Foo Fighters, and Phantogram, and she recommended that I tune into the BBC radio, a great tip. I should tell her that I’ve recently discovered Sirius XMU for seriously indy tracks (which a reader mentioned last year, thx Sue).

All this music talk got me thinking about upcoming festivals. The lineup at Coachella is truly amazing, and for one mad moment I considered grabbing the girls and going (I’m sure their schools would appreciate my taking them out for this…). Closer to home, Firefly in Delaware has a great lineup too and I’m sending my older daughter.

But the two upcoming music events that really make my day are 1) Red Hot Chili Peppers performing at the Super Bowl halftime and 2) the induction of Nirvana into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April. Woo-hoo!

  • Coachella is brilliant fun, you must go, I went on tour a few times with the Foos – good times!

  • You’re very welcome Preston, I actually heard a great remix of Phantogram on the Sirius XMU “download 15” last week that was fantastic. My sisters and I always talk about Coachella, sigh wistfully, and then laugh when we remember the last big outdoor concert/festival we went to (NIN, Soundgarden while ago) because about half way through we were wishing the drunk people in front of us would sit down and shut up so we could hear the band! I still love to go and see live music but I think my festival days are behind me…….unless….lol.
Thank you for the tip about Marisa.

  • BBC 6 Music is the best channel…bit of everything…old, new, indie, rock, funk, soul, world, folk, live sessions etc. Don’t listen to anything else these days.
