On My Mind

Batten Down The Hatches

Okay, here comes another storm.

My husband loves to bake, especially as a diversion when snowed in. So, I pulled out a banana cake recipe from the WSJ yesterday. Before you tell me how lucky I am that my adorable better half cooks as a hobby, consider, how many storms we’ve had = how many desserts he’s made. Ergo, my storm survival activity is running on the treadmill with the glass door open to the frozen landscape and “Happy” by Pharrell Williams blasting over and over.

  • Sounds like a pretty good life to me! We all need a little “happy” and a husband that bakes! You will like my husbands obsession better. He makes green smoothies every morning!! Lucky !! And I still have to work out every day anyway!! Here’s to snow ending soon ( we got a few inches last night coming your way tomorrow ) for now, we have the academy awards! Let the fashion parade begin!

  • I saw those recipes Saturday and that cake certainly caught my eye. I plan on making the pie, but the cake is on my radar screen, too. This is what I call “real cake”, not just a platform for frosting.
