An Eclectic Mix

This American couple’s Belgian apartment, in the March issue of Elle Decor, caught my eye. Or rather, pulled my heart strings. I grew up in homes with a similar aesthetic– Eames, Knoll, Mies van der Rohe, and George Nakashima furniture mixed with antiques and Oriental rugs. When my oldest daughter was a toddler, I gave away my Barcelona chairs fearing the sharp edges. Today, a Mies chair would shake up my living room nicely.

  • The huge windows and white walls caught my eye! The top photo has a very California feel. Love to mix furnishings for a quietly eclectic look. Beautiful.

  • I like that the interiors you post are minimalist, eclectic and mod! They are always inspiring to me. I especially like this interior with all of the classic knoll and Herman miller pieces.

  • It’s beautiful. I love a mixture of old and new furniture – and big windows to let lots of light in!

  • Love these eclectic rooms, which a decorator once told me is the most difficult to do, and that you are also into decorating! I like fashion, however, my decor is more important to me.

I have an Eames Lounge/Ottoman and virtually live in it when I am home because of back problem. I have yet to find anything that compares comfort wise.

  • As usually, simple is always chic.
