“DON’T COMPLAIN ABOUT THE WIND, LEARN TO SAIL.” – Swedish Proverb
Chance founder and summer devotee, Julia Leach, was inspired by Sweden’s “seaside lifestyle, design heritage, and natural beauty” for her SS14 collection. This spring, along with her signature striped knits, Julia’s added beautiful tops in Liberty prints, an oxford shirt and shirtdress, tunics, hats, and espadrilles. Everything we need to complete the perfect summer wardrobe.
I asked Julia to share her inspiration images and, if she did a perfume for this collection, what would be the mix of scents? About the fragrance, I can’t wait to do a scent, especially since I’ve tried so many white florals and haven’t found one I love. For the Sweden collection, I’d create a fragrance that fuses elderflower, freesia, and twin flower with a light, clean note of poplar trees and gooseberries…the scent of walking through an island in the Stockholm archipelago on a dewy Sunday morning. A fresh, light, greeny floral, yet just a little bit woodsy to give it a more sensual note.
