Dior Couture

My friend and I started working at Vogue on the same day. It was early January, and although I cannot remember what I wore that first day, I certainly remember that Helen showed up in a floor-length mink coat.

Raf Simons showed a gorgeous passage of floor-sweeping coats in his latest couture collection for Dior. Although I usually wait until the end of the shows to do a round up, these stunning coats warrant their own post. I love the underpinnings of simple knits and classic trousers.

  • Wish I’d been at this show! I think the key thing is the casting and hair/makeup are quite youthful and minimalist. If they’d had classic up-dos and red lips it might have looked too classic. I love the structured coats, esp with a slightly short sleeve!

  • Wow! What a dramatic statement the top pic makes. Some serious coat lust here, maybe winter is not such a bad thing!

  • Those coats were stunning, as were the beginning section of dresses. And, how about those embroidered Edwardian style coats
Rag Simons is a genius. I especially loved the first long coat exit. Look for my wrap up of the entire collection in the coming days @ www.curatorsofstyle.com.
Preston, it’s uncanny how we love the same things. You have such a great eye!!!

  • Long coats can look so intimidating. These hit just the right note–“It’s cold outside and I’m just shrugging on my coat.” Perfect.

  • Perfect timing! I was thinking of taking my floor length sheared beaver to get cut down…no way! I have to say, I usually wear my short fur casually and my long for formal, but I love the contrast here. Thanks!

  • Fabulous coats, fabulous fur, also love the knits and separates underneath. This exemplifies chic sportswear! And they all sure beat a crochet vests! : )
