French Beauty Trophies
When I go to Paris it’s usually for work and I don’t have time to browse in a French pharmacy. I’ll pop in to pick up my tried-and-true products but, I don’t seek out new ones.
This weekend, The New York Times ran a cheat sheet of the best beauty trophies to bring home. Now, I just need to book a flight.
In The New York Times, Love This
King’s Pharmacy in TriBeCa carries Avene and, shockingly, I just bought the Nuxe oil at my local Target in California of all places.
I don’t want to be chauvinistic, but it’s true we have the best pharmacy products in France !
L’Huile prodigieuse from Nuxe is a staple, Avène is a brand most mothers tell their daughter about when they are still very young, and you also should check Bioderma and La Roche Posay !

Duane Reade carries La Roche Posay and Avene in the “beauty center” stores, and Target does too. Also, many of these products are available on Amazon.
I mainly use Melvita, but I also like Weleda, Avene and Decleor. I also like some Roche Posay products such as Cicaplast which is amazing for scars and really works and their new Anthelios XL 50+ SPF sunblock which is ultra ultra thin and was literally just launched here in France this summer.
I was also going to say I buy many of these items on Amazon – Bioderma is a staple!
When I was in Paris in May, I dragged my husband into a small pharmacy near our hotel. The only items I bought were some from Caudalie – I could order them here, but I saved about $50 buying 3 products in Paris!
So glad I read the NYTimes online before we came home from Montreal. I made a shopping list and beelined it to the nearest pharmacy to stock up. I also keep a list on my phone from an old Goop newsletter where she recommends a bunch of similar products.
