Mary Janes

Tabitha Simmons

Mary Janes were the flats on the fall runways and I’m sure this post will be the first of many on this stylish, yet practical, shoe style.  One of my favorites is by Tabitha Simnmons, in Porter magazine’s fall issue and below.

  • I adore this style in suede and the Dolce and Gabbana embroidered T strap version are also quite fetching. Happy Friday, Preston!

  • I am in love with this style, and flats look just as chic as heeled Mary-Janes !

Very sixties, but they can look just as modern with boyfriend jeans !

  • I always loved Mary Janes. If they were on the fashion scene, I was wearing them. Until one day when I looked at myself and thought, “I look like an over the hill tap dancer”. I vowed never again, and I am holding firm. But, I encourage everyone else to indulge, as it is a great look on the right person.

  • Ferragamo still makes the Audrey. My black patent pair are still my favorite pair of shoes in my closet!! They were designed for Audrey Hepburn — how could they NOT be perfect?

  • The flat pointy Maryjane and a block heeled (Ferragamo), and the Gucci ankle boot are the shoes I NEED this fall. Love all MJ’s in the photo. Glad there are going to be a lot to choose from. Did you decide about your hair?

  • Mary Janes are clean and charming, but they may be a young girls’ game. I intend to at least try some on and see how they look on this over-50 model . . .
