My Beauty BFF

Lashes are my beauty focus this fall and an eyelash curler is my new BFF. Love that this one from Charlotte Tilbury is gold-tone. Now I need to find the perfect mascara– any recommendations?

  • My current favourite mascara is Guerlain’s Maxi Lash in black. It makes my lashes look long and lush, it’s creamy and it smells really good.

  • I have been using Boyd s Madison Ave (in glass bottle) for
    20 years. Looove it!!!

  • Both the Dolce & Gabbana Passion Eyes mascara and the Benefit “They’re Real!” mascara are super fantastic. Family, friends and work colleagues have asked me about my lashes (whether I’ve gone the extension route – NO!) since using these mascaras. Love them!

  • Yesterday, I ordered the Charlotte Tilbury mascara, as well as a few other things from her line on NAP.
I have heard the Benefit “They’re Real” is great as well. I’m always on the lookout it seems for a new good mascara.

  • MAC makes a great mascara, Zoom, to be preceeded by their fantastic product, Prep and Prime. It makes my lashes really long and lush, and seems to eliminate the need for curling them first. It’s very inexpensive, too.

  • I always seem to alternate between a drugstore mascara and a high end one. My cheapie is Loreal’s Voluminous Butterfly. I love the brush and how it focuses on the outer edges of my lashes. Luxurious brand – YSL faux cil. Smells like roses and very easy to put on. You could honestly just put on 2 coats and be done with your eyes.

  • I agree with the Chanel Imtimible(sic) recommendation. Their brushes are very fine and don’t ever clump. I wear the brown during the day and black at night. And there’s a really great blue too.

  • Giorgio Armani, Eyes to Kill. Great for everyday, if I want to go all out.
    Dior Addict.

  • Maybelline Bombshell mascara by far is the best I have ever used! No flaking whatsoever! Love Love Love it!

  • Perfekt black mascara is perfect!!

  • I am with Paula M….after using Lancome for 30+ yrs I switched to Chanel mascara this year…beautiful brush which never clumps (rubber and very fine)…great for defined lashes..

  • I’ve been using Charlotte Tilbury’s Full Fat Lashes for about a month, and it’s terrific! No clumping but lots of volume. People ask if my lashes are real.

    JanetSeptember 3rd, 2014  11:09 AM

  • I have thick, long lashes but finding a mascara that stays put is a challenge. Trish McEvoy lengthening mascara works. No more racoon eyes at the end of the day.

    MegSeptember 3rd, 2014  11:50 AM

  • I agree with Meg. Trish McEvoy for avoiding raccoon eyes is the best. I like the Lash Curling one and it really stays on.

  • Chantecaille Longest Last Mascara in Black.

    CatherineSeptember 3rd, 2014  1:28 PM

  • There was a wonderful article I read (somewhere…I don’t remember where because really with the Internet, who can keep track?) about the fact that mascaras were all basically the same formula…it is the brush that matters. So whatever brush works best for your eyelashes (I like YSL Baby Doll because I like the brush for length, and I’m a sucker for packaging)xo

    La Comtesse LolaSeptember 3rd, 2014  2:11 PM

  • Will always be true to Maybelline Lash Blast Mascara. It never runs and doesn’t clump. Adore! And affordable too!

Lindley Pless, The SentimentalistSeptember 3rd, 2014  3:33 PM

  • I beieve the article La Comtese Lola is referring to is from Into The Gloss http://intothegloss.com/2013/09/best-mascara-2013-expert-tips/. I found it very interesting/helpful.

  • Hi! try the mascara by Ellis Faas, lashes will be natural and glamorous at the same time!

    AnitaSeptember 3rd, 2014  3:51 PM

  • Mascara is my thing. I have tried most and love Chanel Volume. It doesn’t clump or flake. Well worth the price.

    SusanSeptember 3rd, 2014  8:13 PM

  • Preston, I would never endorse a product on my blog I didn’t love. Benefit “Thery’re Real” mascara was a beauty product I did. I’ve turned it on too soooooo many people, and they all thank me!!! Try it, and let me know what you think!

  • Kevyn Aucoin – ‘The Volume Mascara. Every eyelash is lengthened by at least two thirds – an absolute miracle in a tube.

  • I haven’t found anything better than the YSL mascara! I could wear that mascara and a light lip for days! http://madelienerose.com/

  • My bad…I meant Covergirl Bombshell Curvaceous mascara (not Maybelline)…amazing

    JenniferSeptember 4th, 2014  9:08 AM

  • I keep going back to Kevin Aucoin essential black and then a Boudreaux colour from By Terry which brings out the green in my eyes

    GiuliaSeptember 4th, 2014  5:35 PM

  • I agree, benefit “they’re real” is awesome.

    BethSeptember 4th, 2014  11:38 PM

  • I swear by the L’Oreal butter fly wing effect fibres mascara in midnight black. I’ve ised all the expensive ones and this one is truly is outstanding compared to the others, and it’s the cheapest, which is a bonus!

    AngelineSeptember 5th, 2014  4:22 AM

  • I like L’Oreal Beauty Tubes. I have long dark lashes that just need a bit of definition, and this one NEVER flakes and is easy to remove–important for sensitive eyes. And, of course, the price is right.

    joannawnycSeptember 5th, 2014  8:21 AM

  • Because I live at the ocean, I have my lashes dyed, permed and extensioned. Sounds ridiculous with a capitol R because I am as low maintenance as you get, but having this done means I always look great with just a swipe of lip color, so it is so worth it. I doubt I will ever go back to manually doing all that work!

    ElleSeptember 5th, 2014  3:38 PM

  • My lashes are not easy. I need to curl them and still it is hard for me to keep that curl after i put on mascara. But i found the best mascara ever: LUMENE Wild Curl waterproof mascara. So good. And when i want the spidery look i put the new Lancome mascara over it. Perfection.
