On My Mind

Take Your Daughter To Work

Celine A wonderful picture of Phoebe Philo and her daughter chatting with Delphine Arnault backstage at the Céline show. My girls come to work with me often and have spent many hours doing homework under the racks backstage at shows. It’s important to me that they known the people I work with and have a clear sense of what I do.

  • My daughter often was involved in my work (when I was an interior designer) and I asked her opinion on fabrics, etc. I had felt guilty that I worked so hard when she was young, and I was a single mom, but she tells me now that she loved how hard I worked and involved her. Now that she has a daughter of her own, she occasionally will take her to work with her. She’s only 15 months old, but knows the people my daughter works with, not really what she does obviously. Great photo, and so glad you involved your daughters too.

  • I have taken both my daughters to work for years- afternoons if they got out of school early or had no after school activity they would come and do their homework, read , play on the iPad or just draw pictures. Now that they are older they can help with photocopying, filing etc- a little involvement has been good for them as it has taught them that I work outside the home part time while also working in the home full time!!

  • I wish more and more work places were kid friendly. My job would not allow me to bring my kids to work, it would have been really cool!

  • I love how happy and relaxed they all look. Being able to have a successful and rewarding career and a happy family life is a magical combo.

  • This is such a happy picture ! I remember my mother taking me to her job too (well, it was not as glamourous as she is a doctor), and those moments saty with us for the rest of our lives 🙂 It makes me like Phoebe even more !
