Winter Tweak

A Scarf

One of my very best fall purchases is a printed Prabal Gurung scarf, it instantly jazzes up my parkas and jackets. Now that we are in the depths of winter, I’m looking for another interesting scarf to add to the rotation—a winter tweak, if you will.

The best scarves are picked up while traveling or from little shops here and there. I saw some nice ones on sale at A.B.C. last week. I’m sorry that most of these are quite pricey, I just like the patterns and textures.

Red diamond, white cable, bandana, herringbone, black striped, grey, grey & white bandana print.

  • I bought a cashmere scarf recently by I Pezzi Dipinti in a dark navy and it really has been the best investment I made this autumn winter. It’s so luxiourious, goes with absolutely everything . Best of all it’s fab to wear draped over a white shirt for an evening event. I never take it off actually!

  • I just wanted to recommend the site www.shoplatitude.com, where they have a lovely selection of scarves, colorful or neutral, ethnic, embellished or plain, cashmere, pashmina, cotton, from all over the world, with a range of prices. It’s a great site to find that “neat item” that can really make a simple outfit stand out!

Personally, I’m a big fan of monochromatic dressing, and love to use scarves (both more bohemian to the classic silk Hermes scarf) to add some oomph to my suits and dresses, or even jeans and t-shirt!

  • I love Virginia Johnson scarves , you can check them out here…http://www.virginiajohnson.com/collections/shawls.
They can add a pop of color of my all black New York wardrobe.

Your site is my favorite!! Love everything you post.

  • I’ve been obsessed with Hermes scarves for a while (but I’m not picky, I have one from the Gap that I love) and always find they are the best way to brighten up an all black wardrobe. Now that it’s winter and I’m always in my black down coat it’s nice to have a little color peeking out as I run about town. Since there’s no Hermes in Maine (I can dream . . . ) they’ve all been bought on our travels and are always a nice souvenir of our adventures. The bandana one is next on my list! Cheers, Laura

  • I discovered this site a few months ago and purchased several of the scarves found there. Nice prices and designs. Lovely home items, too!

  • For day-in/day-out during the winter months, I wear a camel/gray/winter white Scottish wool plaid scarf which my husband and son brought home for me from Scotland. It feels so good at my neck and peeks out from under my winter uniform–a black puffy Patagonia ‘sweater’ jacket. Add cashmere lined leather gloves (brown & black) and click on the seat warmer . . .
