Nerdy Glasses

Saint Laurent

I still love a good pair of nerdy glasses, especially these by Saint Laurent. I may have to upgrade my readers…

  • I plan on upgrading this spring with a pair from Warby Parker. I’m going for the elegant tomboy nerd look. I’m hoping it doesn’t come off as the harried tired mom wearing her husband’s glasses look.

  • Unfortunately, I am a tired mom of 4; and also allergic to contacts. I sport a chunky translucent frame from Oliver Peoples 24/7, and receive compliments on them daily. Adopting the mind set of a “naughty librarian/ naughty scientist” look sells the chic and swagger. Going on three years with this frame and the compliments are still fresh.
I would love your view on a selection of glasses to pair with delicate dresses and elegant evening wear. That issue can be tougher to pull off well.

  • If you don’t need prescription lenses eyebobs have some nice frames for about $80 and the lenses are pretty good quality.

  • My daughter got a pair of light green/brown tortoise, book worm type frames from Warby Parker. She has red hair, and they look great on her. I wear contacts, but they have never been totally comfortable on me, so I always have a pair of glasses meeting my current needs prescription wise. They are like an old friend at the end of the day.

  • Love these! I have Warby Parker- multiple pairs as well as Persol and even J Crew lately has a really cute tortoise pair. Readers are a definite accessory for any outfit.

  • My regular glasses are similar – dark tortoise sexy librarian, as my husband calls them! Always get compliments on them. However, I recently had a cataract removed from my left eye (the right one is miniscule and doesn’t need to come out) and I can see better than I have since I was a teenager!

Before surgery, I didn’t need readers, although my lenses were progressive so I didn’t have to remove them to read. Now, my right eye is still good for reading, but the left eye has issues, SO I purchased a pair of black nerdy readers (that I love) for a little extra help!

  • Oh these Saint Laurent frames are just lovely! I have a pair of nerdy girl glasses from Oliver Peoples that receive many compliments (I alternate between these and contact lenses) but this pic makes me want to add to my collection. Oui to Saint Laurent!!
