On The Hunt For

A Vest

Tommy Ton

The parka has been my saving grace this winter, it works both in the city and weekends in the country. But, for early spring, I’m looking for something different—a cozy vest. I like that the one above is a nod to 70s style. Paired with an oversized sweater, or even a trim jacket tucked underneath, would be chic. I’m into creative layering. TBC.

  • Love this look- layering is so practical in the transitional months, fur vests are invaluable over fitted jackets, cosy cashmere or even light down .

Joseph or Figue fur vests are the best.

  • This is both practical and chic; I’ve been looking for the same item lately (and not finding anything very attractive under the $2K mark!) I found this one yesterday and sighed over it: http://www.bergdorfgoodman.com/Brunello-Cucinelli-Long-Velour-Shearling-Fur-Vest-vest/prod105890014___/p.prod?icid=&searchType=MAIN&rte=%252Fsearch.jsp%253FN%253D0%2526Ntt%253Dvest%2526_requestid%253D19349&eItemId=prod104520080&cmCat=search!

  • I think the vest is underutilized in wardrobes. It seems to only surface as a trendy item, and when it is “out” it is nowhere to be found. I love vests and agree one would make a great Spring “coat”.

  • I bought a James Perse quilted down vest for hiking in the winter here, and ended up wearing it all the time. I would love a Spring, and more fashionable version, really perfect for LA with a long sleeved tee.

  • This will sound very old fashioned (ok, I got the idea from my mother), but furriers have beautiful vests at really excellent prices this time of year. I have a mink vest with a hood that I picked up for a song in February a couple of years ago at Alixandre. I wear it outside in the fall and early spring, and indoors when it’s freezing – incredibly useful.

  • This is really deja vu all over again . . . Wore this exact vest as a teenager, long, shaggy faux fur trim and all. I had completely forgotten about it. I do love the idea of a vest, but this, to my eye, is so dated. I love Ella’s idea of a mink vest. It offers more polish, and something new for women of my age who lived through the 70’s once already.
