The Power Of Flowers

It’s the last day of spring break and there’s a fresh coating of snow over the garden. Buckets of lilacs were everywhere in L.A., one of my favorite flowers. We have a 12′ lilac hedge on the Vineyard, but are rarely there to see it in full bloom. Since our weather refuses to warm up, I’m going to bring spring inside with some cut flowers.

  • I wished you lived in the Los Angeles area as I would send you something and springy!

  • My lilacs are sprouting their flower-heads. In about a month the yard will be filled with that heady scent we love. For now, we have the sunny, yellow Forsythias to brighten our days.

Thoroughly enjoy your website, Preston. Though some items may be out of reach for some, that’s really not that point of this blog (haves and have- nots). You show the timeless qualities (clothing, art, home, etc.) that so many people enjoy. You bring a different perspective and everyone can learn from that.

Best wishes for Spring to arrive soon!

  • This photo captures several of my favorite varieties – Lily tulips, ranunculus, cut hyacinth (unopened), lilac, and viburnum. If I close my eyes I can smell them. Flower stands are such a joy! Spring can’t come soon enough.
