Gio’s Austrian Inspiration

W magazine

And speaking of a global wardrobe, one of my favorite pages in W is Gio’s Journal, edited by stylist Giovanna Battaglia—I love her globetrotting finds. In the April issue, Giovanna is inspired by the knitwear in the Chanel pre-fall collection that was shown in Salzburg, Austria. Me, too.

  • It always surprises me when I see other people with my name.

  • Speaking of Austria, The Woman in Gold is one of the most beautiful movies in recent memory. God love Helen Mirren. Everything about this movie is perfect, and the history is critical for those who don’t know it.

  • I second all of Paula’s comments. Especially that younger generations have no idea of this era of history. Unfortunately, when I saw the film, the sold out audience was composed of oldsters like me! Great film.

  • I remember wearing this style in the late 80s and early 90s with boyfriend jeans and loafers.

  • I saw it a second time with our 24 year-old daughter (my invitation, followed by dinner). She was immensely grateful I took her and now recommending it to all of her peers. Both times, the theatre was sold out, but all over age 50.

  • Speaking of Austria, I did not see the move yet but when I hear “Austria” it’s enough for me not to touch “the subject”. If you call it kind of Norwegian pattern, I’m in!
