On The Hunt For

New Shades

Tom Ford While on the topic up updating summer items, I could use a new pair of shades. My friend Lisa bought these Tom Ford Carla sunglasses and they look sensational on her. Can I be a copycat?

  • They look great, but I always worry that this style, with the space between the lens and the frame, will let in too much sun.

  • On the question of copying: I would only copy if you and your friend are not often together. Much better if you don’t live too close to each other. And I would tell her as soon as you bought them. That said, I think they are stunning.

  • I don’t think you should copy her if you see her somewhat often. Have you tried the Gucci Havanas? Love them in photos.

  • How often are you together? If she is a good friend then she will be flattered! My best friend and I always tell each other of pieces we bought and know the other would love–often times only to find out one of us has already bought it. When I find a lipstick I love I always buy two as I know it will look good on her–even though I am blonde and she is a brunette!

  • While sunglasses are face jewelry and therefore an expensive adornment, not every face looks good in any particular pair. That’s why if these look good on your face your must go for it and enjoy.

  • Go for it, Preston – isn’t the whole point of your blog sharing YOUR finds for your readers to “copy”? As long as you’re candid with your friend, I’m sure she’d be flattered. I know I would be, if someone with great style like yours copy-catted me.
