The upside of a freshly edited closet is that it’s easy to take stock of what I have and, surprisingly, don’t have. Honestly, I thought I had a lot more. I’d been storing pieces that were so old, unfashionable, or didn’t even fit, it only appeared that I had loads of things to wear.
There are some striking holes in my wardrobe. How is it that I don’t have a good black dress? Or a belt besides the ones I buy at the tack shop? A spring jacket? No wonder I always talk about a uniform and tight rotation—I’m reaching for the same few items day after day.
