Chanel Pre-Fall

Cardigan Crush

Perhaps my WASPy upbringing explains why I am completely smitten with this sweater from the Chanel pre-fall collection. The above Vogue Italia image of Kate Moss wearing the Chanel cardigan paired with lederhosen-like shorts mimics my childhood uniform. Below, my siblings on the Vineyard circa who-knows-when.

  • LOVE, LOVE, LOVE…and the photo is darling! I too was a lederhosen wearer as a child. My aunt brought them back from Austria and all 3 of my boys wore my pair as well.

  • This wins my heart ~ your photo is a real treasure!
To my eye, everything about the pre-fall Chanel was one in a million – the knits, the handbags, the dresses, the jackets . . . new and original interpretations of the past, which is what the best and most talented designers can do. Hooray for a cardigan!

  • Adore the photo! We too had lederhosen which chaffed the legs until raw and just when broken in and soft, we grew too big for them. Mine were able to stand in the corner without support…
When in Munich this summer we saw countless Chinese tourists in Lodenfrey ( a tony department store) being fitted with lederhosen – the mind boggles as to how they will be used when they get home!
The Chanel shot says everything how close the Scots ( Shetland cardi) and the Bavarian/Tyrolleans are.

  • Love the precious family photo! The cardigan is a complete flashback to my 80’s high school and college years. Imagine; we thought we were dressed in a seductive fashion…in those woolen beasts, topping our oxfords, t-necks, ribbon belts and clogs.
