Vestiaire Collective

This Marni bag, in black, was on my list. I put it in a Monday Morning Must-Have post and it promptly sold out before I placed my order (dumb, I know).  Then, I saw my friend wearing it and my heart sank— it looked so good.

Determined to find it, I came across Vestiaire Collective, and boy am I in trouble. I’ve never been a vintage or pre-owned fan, but handbags are fine. When the Marni bag popped up in bottle green, I didn’t hesitate. And my penchant for doubles? Now I have the perfect way to scratch that itch.

  • Love Celine bags- so simple and chic. Doubles of something you love and wear endlessly is money well spent.

  • This site looks interesting. I’ve been looking at it for ten minutes trying to figure out if they take returns and I still don’t have the answer. It appears they let you resell an item you don’t want and you don’t have to pay a commission.
I have been buying and selling on Therealreal for a while now and I love it. They allow returns on almost all items ( handbags are final sale). I have gotten some wonderful pieces. I love buying channel sneakers ( you find that a lot of merchandise has never been worn or perhaps worn once!) They ship very fast. I have sold many items also. The process is painless once you figure out what items they accept. They only take really good stuff
On the other hand, ! I tried Vaunte for a while and although I sold a lot of items, I find their customer service to be terrible and their items overpriced!
I do think buying used items is the way to go! Where else can you buy Celine and Chanel in the middle of the night??

  • I considered buying an item at Vestiaire and quickly realized that the $168 sweater is going to cost me approx. $235 due to the high shipping costs and various tax/custom dues. May be worth it if trying to hunt down a hard-to-find high $ item, but does not make sense for a less special acquisiton, I think.

  • I just tried consigning a few items with Vestiaire after months of success with RealReal. Vestiaire accepts a range of brands RealReal does not, such as Stuart Weitzman, Cole Haan, Kate Spade, and a range of contemporary brands. But it is MUCH more labor-intensive for the seller, and since the prices (including markdowns) are set by the seller, you have to do a lot of research to get the right price for an item. International consignors also mean the potential for custom and tax issues as Irina mentioned.

  • I live in Toronto and just bought this Marni bag in black today. I found it in one of my favorite shoe stores. They also had it in Royal blue and navy!! If anyone is still hunting it down I also saw it on line at ssense.com. They are an awesome high end store from Montreal with a US website as well that you can order from. They have it in black.

  • I love that bag! I just ordered it from Barney’s in black. They must have restocked. Now I patiently wait for UPS….
