On My Mind

Styling Tip

As I scrolled through countless SS16 runway pics of slip dresses, I wondered how I would wear one for day in the city. Topped with a cardigan has been my solution every time the skimpy slip made a comeback. However, when I spied these images I had an ‘aha’ moment—the Alberta Ferretti left is more interesting to my eye with the top underneath—even the sleeveless, belted sheath on the right looks updated and modern styled this way, too.

  • The image on the right is beautiful – love the colors, the shorter length, and what looks like wider straps.

  • The image on the right is beautiful but I like the look on the left more for personal reasons….this works for me because the top underneath is gauzy and doesn’t add too much “boxiness” with my shape. I wore the look this past summer and loved it.

  • Love the Alberta Ferretti look! I have a slip dress that I’ve layered with a fitted thin knit. That works too.

  • This is a great look and opens many options for versatility and use of existing pieces. Wondering now how this might look layering a silk blouse with an oversized camisole combined with a pencil skirt or pant option and even a blazer for a daytime look.
