Monday Must-Have

When I opened the BG resort catalogue and spied this look, my first thought was “hostess skirt“. This one is a good price and would never go out of style. But, which shoes? Hmm…

Aquazzura Lace-up, Gucci Webby gold mule, Gianvito Rossi Mary-Jane, Prada gold slide, Prada jacquard mule, Manolo Blahnik leopard mule, Gianvito Rossi sandal, Gucci clog, Gucci Marmont loafer.

  • All the shoes work and all are fabulous.

  • Love this look and I love your style!! You cannot go wrong with any of these shoes!

  • I would think it would depend on where and what you’re hostessing and what you’d wear as a top. If you have in mind an event in CT for the upcoming season, I would personally go with the black suede version of the MB mule you show in leopard – either in the same style or in the traditional Carolyne slingback. If you prefer a block heel, then I think the GR pictured above the MB, would be the way to go from the options you present. The skirt is the statement piece, don’t you think? I didn’t love the tops designed to go with it, unless you could somehow make the sleeveless v-neck work in some way –
I thought the peasant blouse styled with the skirt appeared a bit busy together, but that each would shine better with a simpler bottom/top.

  • A shoe without a buckle because it might catch on the skirt. I love the good slides.

  • That skirt is so long that you could get away with a pedicure and that’s it, if you are hostessing at home!

  • None of those shown!

  • The Gianvito Rossi Sandal – beautiful with this skirt!

    ChristinaNovember 16th, 2015  12:09 PM

  • Only an open toe sandal and unless you are very tall or long limbed, a bigger heel.

  • Hi – did you post a link to the NAP sale? I saw a post titled “And They’re Off!” in my reader but I can’t click on it. 🙂

  • I love the skirt, but agree with Tabitha that I don’t love it with the blouse…as far as shoes: the GR maryjane or the Prada jacquard mule. Meg is probably right about the buckle though….

  • Prada jacquard mule or Rossi sandal get my vote

    AnnNovember 16th, 2015  5:12 PM

  • I love the pedicure and bare feet especially at home. A lovely deep red for the holidays!!

    MaryNovember 16th, 2015  5:50 PM

  • I rather like the blouse and skirt together, and think the jacquard mule would be lovely to finish the look. A very fresh look with a 70’s undercurrent.

  • Love posts like this because these are the very dilemmas most of have at the holidays for party dressing. I like the silhouette of the blouse and skirt together, however i think a black or Bordeaux velvet choker would add interest, minus the tassel on the blouse shown. As for shoes, barefoot might work for me at a poolside cocktail party, but not for a winter party. My choice are the Gianvito Rossi sandal with a pretty polish, probably not red since it is so predictable. This outfit has me recalling an earlier post on the trend toward Victorian inspired styling.

  • i love the Gucci ones, too bad we won’t be able to wear mules for at least another six months :/

    CarolineNovember 17th, 2015  9:14 AM

  • For me the gold prada slide would be very chic!
