Books

To Give And Receive

Topiaries, candles, notepads, and macarons are my usual hostess gift repertoire. But this year, there are a few new books that would make for more personal and thoughtful presents.

My dear friend’s father-in-law’s memoir, ‘As It Was’, tells the story of being J.P. Morgan’s grandson and his early years in Locust Valley; my current hometown.

Style icon Lee Radziwill’s, ‘Lee’, is a must for my fashion friends—I’m sure it’s loaded with great images.

And my friend Karen Klopp, author of the site What2WearWhere, wrote the ultimate ‘Packing for Travel’ guide. I thought I was a master packer until I read this book.

I missed Bunny Williams’ talk a few weeks ago, but her book, ‘On Garden Style’, is the perfect present for my garden club friends.

  • Love all of those suggestions! I love books – to give or receive – I just bought an out of print P Allen Smith’s Garden Home – saw it in the library at Vanderbilt Grace in Newport and have been meaning to buy it – also I read an article on Lee Radwizill in the NYT style magazine she is very interesting!!
