  • YES…. Preston do it! and please give a 46 year old some tips…I love the classic basics but as I grow older and am observing older stylish ladies surrounding me in Australia …I notice they ALL wear patterns and colours …with some well placed accessories (depending on the mix) and they look fabulous. Perhaps it is because they have decided to be bolder in their choices and know what suits them? I notice your pic comes from Spanish Vogue. Often the ladies from Australia I am referring to travel a lot, as we live so far away, and I think they get inspired by that European clashing of patterns which is done so well.

  • I agree, but I’m finding it difficult to pull the trigger on something that’s out of my comfort zone because of the shocking prices right now. I’ve seen great, fun bomber jackets, but $4K ? Striped lightweight sweaters for over $1K. Maybe you could find us some fun items that aren’t so pricey?

  • Love the sweater ! Any idea who makes it ? Thanks !

  • Love the idea of and long for color! But… it’s cold and I can’t wrap my thoughts around floral bomber jackets. Blazer, perhaps (under my HEAVY coat) Ha!
I am going to unearth my striped T’s and look for the perfect striped sweater – they will be light and fresh peeking out of my down!

  • Love the mix and think it would look great in a top and skirt combination too.

  • Zara, Ted Baker, Equipment, J McLaughlin, Tory Burch to name a few…IMHO

  • Love mixing it up! One of my fave combos is stripes with a clashing print or layering stripes of different widths – the trick is keeping it all within the same colour palette. Great post Preston – love your blog!

  • When the spring/summer clothes start to drop I get very excited about colour, print and trying out the latest styles because I’m very much a summer person. But I (hope!) have learned the lesson that my dreams of summer and the person I might like to be when it arrives, is illusory and come summer I will revert to my comfort zone of pared back, understated style. This year I’m holding off and saving my money until we get there. And Preston, remember the ivory Balenciaga dress last Spring – and the lunch where you preferred to wear white jeans. It reinforced that lesson for me.
