On My Mind

Sequins?

Sequins seem to be everywhere, and not just at the Met Gala. I loved the SS15 Dior turtleneck, it looked fresh last year. But I’m not convinced that the new crop of sequins on offer is a good thing. Perhaps, as with metallics, a little goes a long way.

Tom Ford tank.

  • In general, matronly, unless you’re very young…..to my eye. And unless you spend a lot of money (like the Tom Ford tank above) they look very cheap and tacky.

  • I think it would look great peeking out from under a black cardigan or deep v sweater. Just a hint would have a great impact. I’d rather wear this piece than the bronze skirt!

  • You are right! A bit of sparkle is chic and feminine without falling into tacky and trendy, when it’s a disruptive element in the look, the unexpected, a hint, the “I’m here if you want to find me” peekaboo effect.
