In Memoriam

Franca Sozzani

Franca Sozzani, Vogue Italia editor-in-chief since 1988, died today . I’d only been at Vogue a few months when Sozzani’s groundbreaking first cover hit newsstands signaling the dawn of a new fashion era. Anna Wintour remembers the enormously talented Sozzani in a beautiful piece on Vogue.

  • This is such terribly sad and shocking news. She was so brilliant and ground-breaking as editor of Vogue Italia. She was in photographs at events in London recently looking her usual radiant self. Very sorry.

  • I’m terribly sorry. I really didn’t read the post well when I first sent you a comment. It’s really very sad, a huge talent and way too young.

  • So sad to hear this — she was an incredible talent and a role model in terms of her own personal style. What she did with Italian Vogue was so inspiring — it was for sure the most visionary of the Vogue family.

  • Very sad news. At Conde Nast she was the most amazing of them all.
