On My Mind

Looking Back While Looking Forward

While reviewing SS17 show images, I got sidetracked after I stumbled across a pic on @simplicitycity. The runway shot inspired me to revisit some of my favorite Spring shows of all time. My tippy top fave is Marc’s SS99 collection for Louis Vuitton, I still have the white poncho. I started casting this show soon after– I was so in love with what Marc was doing. The Calvin Klein and Prada SS98/99 collections are close seconds. Hopefully Raf Simons will be inspired by this era of Calvin Klein collections, too…

  • Oh…thanks for that, Preston. I watched the SS99 show all the way through. Hard to believe that was close to 20 years ago. I’d wear almost anything from that show now. Well… except for the short shorts. Gave those up when I turned 60 last May!

  • The lines were so clean and the clothing was so classic. Nice!

  • So good, not a piece you couldn’t wear today. Love.

  • Could we please just go back? These photos remind me why American women looked better in the 90’s . This is all pre-lycra and ‘athleisure,’ of course. Perhaps a new year’s resolution could be to only wear gym clothes on the way to the gym. It would be a huge improvement to our once-chic city streets!

  • Thank you for hitting the “refresh” button on these collections – I agree with everyone above – gorgeous, clean, wearable, timeless – at least to my eyes!! Marc looks about 16 years ok, love the classic beauty of the hair and makeup and lovely to see Maggie Rizer jump off the screen, too. I have to say that my wardrobe still resembles classic Calvin. There’s not a piece in any of those collections that wouldn’t be truly perfect today!

  • Stunning and timeless, forever pieces. Kate Moss looks so young, she was probably about twenty then.

  • Perfection!
