I’m inspired by Haute Couture but don’t often cover it because it doesn’t have much relevance to my lifestyle. Yet, when the Chanel team invited me to pop by to view the recent SS17 collection, I jumped at the chance to see the looks up close.
Originally shown in Paris on January 24 at the Chanel headquarters, the 1930s Art Deco-inspired collection is beyond beautiful. The evening wear, especially, with it’s mirrored embroidery, is something to behold. My favorite bit of the presentation highlights the house’s use of 3D printing (top right) to map out the placement of the jewels. One of these incredible dresses will surely be on the red carpet at the Academy Awards.
