An American in Paris

It’s expected that Alexander Wang will be named creative director of French fashion house Balenciaga, succeeding Nicolas Ghesquiere. Although Alexander is a controversial choice, I loved his last two collections and am interested to see what he will do with the venerable label. If he brings his sleek, modern, and very wearable sensibility (without becoming too mass), we may all be in luck.

Look we love: The ankle strap

Ankle Strap

From top left: Isabel Marant Fall 2012; Paris Vogue editor Geraldine Saglio with Emmanuelle Alt; Alexa Chung; Burberry Prorsum Spring 2013

Last fall I fell hard for the classic pump. It’s return, after what seemed like years and years of wedges, was very welcome. I bought a black suede pair and another in caramel patent and wore them both to death. I refrained from buying a simple white pump, but it still lingers on my list.

This season I am still in love with the pump, but one with a thin ankle-strap. Fortunately, there are many to choose from.

Look we love: Run-around chic

ÉTOILE ISABEL MARANT Crewneck sweater

GIVENCHY<br /> Nightingale Zanzi tote

BIDERMANN Brass and gold threaded cuff

You will never see me in red jeans- nor pink, peach, baby blue or any other colorful denim. However, eggshell and very pale yellow appeal to my neutrals-only sensibility. Paired with a grey top and my fave new Supergas, this look would take me from the school-run to a meeting with Jennifer and beyond.

Christiane Mack

Photographed at home in Brooklyn by Marko MacPherson

Christiane is one of those women- accomplished, super smart, gorgeous (imposingly just shy of 6′), mother of 2 and one of the best friends you could ever hope for.  I have been a pebble in her shoe since the launch of KiC wanting to profile her chic somewhat laid-back and very personal style.

We met almost 20 years ago at Vogue and today Christiane oversees Vogue’s editorial development and special projects. Born in Denmark, early years in Pakistan and Boston and a teen in Pasadena, California, Christiane’s style is a worldly mix of high-low. From her Birkins and collection of print dresses to her clean-lined brownstone in Brooklyn, her style sensibility is as individual yet modern as she is. Wife of the adorable photographer Marko Macpherson and juggling 2 small children with a big job, we are thrilled that this uber busy working mother was willing to be profiled and answer our questions! Alexander Wang is golden

Poncho + golden = glorious! I don’t own any Alexander Wang but I have been looking for a camel poncho since early last fall. This is certainly very different from the Ralph Lauren one I posted on a few months ago but intriguing none the less.
