I have a confession, lipstick scares me. Especially red. And honestly, I think it can be a bit aging. Great hair and a strong lip is chic for evening, but bright lipstick during the day is not me. Carine Roitfeld doesn’t wear it (she has the smokey eye patent) and many of the women I have worked with don’t wear it during the day either. But I feel like the world is lipstick crazy right now– am I bucking the trend or missing the boat?

Carine Roitfeld’s eagerly anticipated magazine, the first issue to be published fall 2012, is simply named CR. WWD spoke with Carine about the biannual, slightly oversized and book-like features of the upcoming CR Fashion Book.
Fans of the former editor in chief of Paris Vogue, we hope that Carine channels her grown up and very personal style into her new project.

Carine has not been idle since she left the helm of French Vogue last winter.
She guest edited V Magazine’s September issue, styled and modeled in Barneys Fall campaign and published Carine Roitfeld: Irreverent, a visual history of her career to be released October 18th.
If that is not enough, Carine confirmed the rumors that she is putting together a new magazine. It is slated to launch next September with four issues a year, will be in English and she plans to collaborate with old friends Mario Testino, Marie Amelie Sauve and Stephen Gan.
Sounds very exciting.

Jennifer and I each bought a trench coat from the resort collections (Celine and Chloe respectively). As I sit at my desk writing this post it is rainy and grey out- a trench is a useful purchase right now.
Sadly, my beloved Tom Ford for Gucci trench is no longer presentable. I had hoped to wear it forever but recently Jennifer hinted that it was time for it to be retired (honestly, it is falling apart but I was in denial).
The trench is without a doubt the IT coat this season and there are plenty to choose from. As Jennifer says “everyone needs a trench!”

Emmanuelle Alt has been promoted from Fashion Director to Editor in Chief of French Vogue replacing Carine Roitfeld. Emmanuelle’s first issue will be April and radical changes to the magazine are not expected. She is the epitome of rock chic and no one wears black quite as well.

And she is a chic mother too!
