My dear friend and early KiC Style Setter, Kristina O’Neill, has been named editor of the WSJ. magazine. After 12 years at Harper’s Bazaar, currently the executive editor and the editor-in-chief of Bazaar’s Runway Report magazine, Kristina will head to the WSJ at the end of this month.
Smart, hard-working, crazy funny, and completely down-to-earth, Kristina is like a little sister to me, and I am extremely proud of her. But I am not surprised in the least. When I was at Bazaar, Hearst asked me to evaluate Kristina and all I said was, “make her an editor-in-chief.” End. Stop.
The WSJ. magazine is a KiC favorite, and I know Kristina will make it even more of a must-read.

Christine Centenera at the couture by Mr. Newton for Harper’s Bazaar
I know the weather is cool in Paris, but boots in July? Granted, these Givenchy’s are “the” boot for fall, and although it may be too early to wear them in sizzling nyc, it’s certainly not too early to buy them (if you can still find your size). All the best pieces are starting to come in- so make your list, check it twice, and don’t wait until it’s cool here to add to your fall wardrobe.

Most of my career has been spent behind the scenes casting magazine shoots and fashion shows. So it is both thrilling and astounding to be profiled in the August issue of Harper’s Bazaar. I am flattered and honored to say the least. Thank you Glenda and Kristina (one of our first Style Setters).

Kate wearing Valentino in the June/July issue of Harper's Bazaar
Every once in a while I see an image and wish that I had produced the shoot. This story on Kate by Terry Richardson (always good for a laugh) and the uber sexy Andrew Richardson styling, would have been fun. Andrew would have spent hours in my office amusing me as we worked out the details for the trip to Jamaica, and Kate makes everything easy.
Bazaar’s new redesigned look is much more spare and really beautiful. It’s a nice change and certainly sets the magazine apart from the competition. Bravo!

Dolce & Gabbana pumps © March Harper's Bazaar by Daniel Jackson
Nothing is as comfortable as a good pump and I celebrated its return last summer. I have a black pair and a pair in nude patent which are perfect in the rain (any time actually). But the color for spring is white and I am not sure I can go there.
I first spied them at the Celine Resort 12 show below. I admit that I love the heel height on these and the shape is beautiful, but there is still something that holds me back. It may be that my eye has not adjusted and by June, when I have seen them worn on the street and not just in fashion magazines, I will want a pair.
Only time will tell.

The best dress story ever from Harper's Bazaar May 2006 issue shot by Nathaniel Goldberg and styled by George Cortina
I am completely obsessed with dresses and my friend Tracy Taylor, U.S. Editor for Net-a-Porter, is too. In the most recent NaP magazine Tracy talks about her life-long love of dresses and it made me think of my favorite dress story of all time.
A few years ago when I was at Bazaar my buddy George Cortina (one of the chicest men alive) styled this amazing story to hail the return of the dress. The model Missy got stuck in a snowstorm in NY and we ended up helicoptering her to the desert. Unbelievably, George and Nathaniel shot these glorious pictures in one day. Bazaar kindly sent me these images to run here.
I wish I had bought every dress in this sitting as they are all timeless and lovely.
