Marc’s possible move

Marc Jacobs

The rumors of Marc going to Dior are ramping up and I for one would be thrilled. We first met in college and then worked together in the late 90′s (I cast a number of Vuitton shows). Marc is insanely talented and would probably like a change right now. My fingers are crossed.

Fall Collars

Peter Pan collar at Louis Vuitton

My favorite mini trend for Fall is the Peter Pan collar. I first spied it in the Vuitton 2011 Resort collection and then it was a big statement in the LV Fall show above. I love its sweetness and have been wearing one with little sweaters much like Alexa Chung below.

The best part is that they are just a collar or a dickey which is easy to wear under anything and does not add extra bulk. One of my favorite versions is made by CeCe Toppings- they are inexpensive, come in numerous colors and restock weekly.

In a clutch (or what’s not)

Louis Vuitton clutch

It is certainly still the bag of the moment. I even see women tucking bags with shoulder straps under their arm simulating the look. I have an adorable navy Celine which sits in my closet most days. And why is that?

The reality is, I am not a bag swapper. But the bigger issue is size. Obviously I cannot fit everything I think I need into a clutch so I take the essentials. However, I often find an essential missing. My wallet does not fit into my clutch and this is the most bothersome of all.

My wallet does fit into the Vuitton version above, but not much else. I can’t decide if I should try again or just buck the clutch trend and wait for the return of the BIG bag.

In limbo

Michelle Kessler Sanders in the leather pants I am sure I will want.

I love that Jennifer bought leather pants in July and I am sure that I will want a pair too come October and will undoubtedly kick myself for not having the foresight to buy them when they were in stock. But I am not there yet.

I think I am in fashion limbo. The summer sales feel tired (maybe I am just tired of the endless boho offerings) and fall feels very far away. I am also not sure what I want next season.

I know what I need- black calf pumps (bought a Givenchy pair that should come in today) wool pants ( a pair by Valentino in camel on sale) and maybe a Vuitton clutch… Yet, there are no must-haves on my list from the Fall collections.

I envy Jennifer for knowing what she wants.

A Simple Scarf

Jennifer and I are a tad obsessed with the pursuit of “simple summer style”. We have also been discussing the importance of pretty. The scarf in this Vuitton ad is both simple and pretty. What a lovely way to create a loose pony-tail.

The absolute embodiment of simple summer style, Jackie’s scarf and shift are enduringly chic.

Hit and Miss

Elle Macpherson

Elle on a school run

Like Jennifer I am doing a bit of spring shopping and will buy mostly from the resort collections.  I am waiting for a Celine top and skirt and a Derek Lam top (that I already know will not be right). However, now that it is cold my recent purchases are in the spotlight. Even though I loved a lot of the fall offerings, I bought carefully and for the most part am thrilled with my purchases.
