Chic this Week

3 stories on women whose style we admire.

Her mother, Princess Caroline of Monaco, was my style inspiration when I was a teen. And now, Charlotte Casiraghi is one of my style icons too. The NYT’s ran a piece on Charlotte who is currently the face of Gucci and had a French Vogue cover last year. Hopefully, in this Kardashian era, Charlotte will herald a more natural and timeless look.

Also in the NYT’s, an article on Bunny Mellon, the unofficial advisor on style and decorum to Jackie Kennedy. At 101, Bunny is a devoted gardener and press-shy philanthropist. Sadly, she has been thrown into the spotlight for her contributions to John Edwards’ campaign.

We are big fans of Tabitha’s shoes (there are many in the KiC shop) and love that The Coveteur peeks into her closets for us.

Forget hats, I crave crazy good shoes!

Despite the rain, I had a great time at the Central Park Conservancy “hat” luncheon last week and the best way to see all the millinery finery is through Bill Cunningham’s lens.

However, I left the lunch thinking not about hats but more about shoes. The rain gear de rigueur was Louboutin’s nude patent leather pumps yet the insane hats had me craving fantastical footwear instead. Yes I have my studded Valentino’s that I am quickly wearing out, but what I really want right now is a very high statement shoe.

What could be easier than a simple dress paired with a fabulous heel!
