Agnes Baddoo

Agnes photographed by JP Plunier in his shop Feal Mor
Agnes is one of the most multi-talented women I know. A fashion stylist for print (Italian Vogue, Vanity Fair, Vogue), celebrities, musicians, commercials and film, she is also a musician (was in a band The Bushmills), photographer, author of 5 Eat Shop guides, has a great new blog called Present and she just launched a line of Everyw’air aromatherapy sprays. Whew!
For the past 17 years she has lived in Los Angeles but she was born and raised in NYC. Agnes grew up on Central Park and attended an elite all-girls school on the Upper East Side. Her glamorous mother was a buyer at Bergdorf Goodman and her father at the U.N./Ghanaian Counsel General. When we met in college I was awed by her sophistication and ease in the world.
Post college we both worked at fashion magazines and Agnes went to Elle when it launched it’s U.S. edition. Her time there shaped and supported her outlook on female beauty and style. She could relate to Elle’s diverse approach and what she calls “kind of their kind” archetypes especially seen in the models who were chosen to promote inclusive and attainable style and womanly beauty.
Agnes is the queen of high-low from her Cartier Tank watch to her love of vintage mixed with ethnic pieces. She has her own personal style which evolves ever so slightly over time and is never completely (deliberately) on-trend. She is a true original!
