Fall Weekend Essentials

This fall my weekend-wear is straight out of “Love Story”. There are so many great pea coats and preppy sweaters to pair with jeans and boots– it’s a snap to put together the perfect off-duty uniform.  With a nod to my New England roots and boarding school days, I have fallen in love with an updated version of my teenaged self. Isabel Marant booties may have replaced my LL Bean duck boots, but the silhouette is basically the same. Hey, if it’s not broke…

Tory Burch pea coat; MiH white jeans; Isabel Marant bootie; Givenchy tote; Isabel Marant sweater; Colombo scarf; A.P.C. striped wool sweater; Vince bootie; Margaret Howell Duffle coat.

  • Love everything. In LA, this is my dress up wear.
I don’t know if it’s an East Coast/West Coast thing, but have never liked white pants or jeans. I want to, and have tried, but don’t.

  • Ali’s wardrobe in this movie is amazingly timeless. Don’t forget her gorgeous, short camel wrap coat, though!

  • This post saved me. Cooler than normal temps in Hilton Head this year and we are leaving today. I was standing in front of my closet in a fahion daze when this hit the in box. I kept it neutral…pulled out white jeans for every day, a few stripped shirts and sweaters, a pair of orange Tods and my Givenchy Nighingale tote. Some days you just need someone to point you in the right direction. Thanks for pointing!! Thanks to you I will Keep It Chic ALL WEEK!!

  • This post really hit home for me, since I am always in a striped shirt of some kind and just bought a peacoat for my 15 year old daughter, who is this second wearing white jeans, a camel cashmere sweater and tan suede bottines. But most of all, I laughed, being a Miss Porter’s girl myself, at your duck boots reference. Remember the Dean’s sweaters, Vaccaro ribbed turtlenecks, wide-wale cords and whale belt? How about doubling your Lacoste shirts? Fun fashion times 😉
