Oh, how I love a grey skirt…

Theyskens’ Theory FW13
A few years ago, Miuccia Prada designed the perfect, grey wool, A-line, to-the-knee skirt for her Miu Miu line. With an inverted pleat and rough-edge hem, it was my dream piece. But for some reason, I didn’t buy it, and then kicked myself for not doing so. As luck would have it, I was in a resale shop looking for items for a school play costume, and there it was. I am not a resale or vintage shopper, but I snapped up that elusive skirt and felt like I had won the fashion lottery.

Carolina Herrera and Alexander Wang
Paired with a matching grey sweater or a simple white blouse, the Miu Miu skirt is a workhorse in my wardrobe. I could always use another, and fortunately, there were a number of beautiful ones in the NY FW13 shows. This time, I won’t hesitate.

I love grey, it’s so soothing and calming, nothing bad can happen in silver grey.
Totally agree about the love of a grey skirt!
Sometimes, though, I go crazy and pair it with just the right red!! The richness of both colors provides a strength when needed….the grey skirts versatility is welcome…..
I’ve been looking for a great grey skirt for almost 10 years now. Not sure how I missed seeing the Miu Miu one you’ve described and it sounds perfect. Serendipitous that you found it in a resale shop. Will find mine before Fall, I feel certain.
You were meant to have that skirt.
I like seeing the classic styles like the inverted pleat. There are a lot of shape options in skirts and sometimes it seems one dominates so completely the others are forgotten. Grey is a nice, more casual, alternative to black.
congrats on your new skirt.. I am not a skirt girl, but for some reason this season I have VB’s red skirt on my spring wish list, worn with a tucked in white shirt and brown belt as she did it on the runway..
How exciting on your Miu Miu find. That would be a great post, I’m sure I’m not the only one who’d like to see it! I wore a black skirt to the Met today (you have to see their new show ‘Impressionism, Fashion & Modernity’ it’s wonderful, it opens next week) and realized I should wear a skirt a lot more often than I do. Now I’m going to be on a hunt for a gray one!
