My Two Lives

Isabel Marant dress

I’m sure everyone can relate to this dilemma– I have two very different back-to-back events this evening, a flower show cocktail (pleasure) in the country and a Cartier dinner (work) in the city, and no time to change in between. What do I wear? Sometimes I feel like I lead two different lives and that I am constantly over or under dressed because I’m running from one thing to another.

The silk Isabel Marant dress from FW12 (mine is grey), and the Valentino ankle-strap pumps may be the way to go. For the record, I’m giving my Rockstuds a well deserved rest these days, only the sandals are in rotation.

  • This will look amazing…it is the perfect spring dress and will look great with those shoes. I run into this a lot..I just put aside a few easy pieces that I can dress up or down with amazing jewelry and presto!
    Have fun tonight!

  • This is a lovely outfit, and perfect for both events. I know what you mean about leading two different lives – though I don’t think either of mine are as glamorous as yours!

  • We’re I lucky enough to have this exact problem!!
Think a dress that can be adorned with jewels or a scarf for the second event is perfect…knowing me, I would also swap out handbags between the two as well!!! Thank heavens for accessories!!!

  • So glad I will know at least one person at the Cartier dinner tonight. And now that I know what you’re wearing, it will be easy to find you! See you later!

  • When it comes to back to back events nothing beats a little black dress, but maybe you can try a grey or navy dress with lace details.

  • What about blue, royal or navy, patent shoes?
