If they’re good enough for Phoebe…

Many of you have commented on my choice of white sneakers in On the road. It’s hard for me to consider another pair since I’ve been wearing the white Adidas forever, and they have served me well. But I love the suggestions, keep ’em coming!

  • they look cool and comfy. The outfit can be transformed in 2 seconds by popping on a pair of heels- whats there not to love about wearing sneakers!!!!

  • i think i’d have to see the white Addidas in person, but white Tretorns always remind me of the sailing moms at Lake Winnipesaukee (who I’m sure were hockey moms in the winter, wearing clogs) i love them. classic.

  • white sneakers never go out of style. Never. I wear my white Jack Purcell slip-ons all the time and get compliments on them.

  • How about Supergas? I bought a gray Cotu one and wore to New Zealand for a month! Super stylish and super comfy, too.

  • I have the grey Cotu’s and aluminum Cotu’s as well. Also could not resist getting at least one pair of the The Row for Superga…got the slip ons in New Brocade. So many cool pairs of sneakers out there right now.

  • Ah yes, I like white shoe with black outfit, kind of sharpens it up. Used to have a
pair of white leather loafers, but now I do with white slip-on Keds.

  • White sneakers are classic, always fresh looking. No pretense – there just sneakers.

    AprilOctober 24th, 2013  3:15 PM

  • Not sneakers… but I have a blue suede paid of Quoddy moccasins that are a nice alternative and go great with my white jeans and grey tops…just a thought 🙂 happy fall !!

  • Happy to see you sticking to your guns!

  • I ran into someone I knew at college (25 years ago) and he said ‘you look exactly the same, skinny dark pants and white sneakers’. Totally a classic look that I go to again and again, both casual and with a suiting look. Agree totally with the comment above ‘sharpens it up’, and also dresses it down with no pretense of being fancy. Lately I wear golden goose, before that superga’s and bensimmon’s. The adidas are a little boxy in the toe for me, but I’m only 5′ tall.

  • Classic look! Love it on others but can’t pull it off myself. Between years and years of tennis whites and wearing a size 9 shoe, I feel a little silly. I default to grey or navy converse or old school grey suede new balance. Preston, I am sure you are pulling off the white Adidas with panache.

  • white sneakers are the best- always chic!

    mark d. sikesOctober 24th, 2013  9:33 PM

  • sporty chic and crisp. Great look. I like the cut of the trousers too. I am growing tired of skinnies.

  • I disagree, white tennis shoes in Europe will look very much a TOURIST, specially in Fall !
In Italy we can immediately point the Americans and Brazilians using this awful white shoes !
I nice pair of Chelsea boots in London or Paris when it’s raining and nice ballerinas in October here in Rome with our beautiful weather.

    elianeOctober 25th, 2013  6:30 AM

  • How about a retro pair of New Balance?

  • While she doesn’t look dreadful, there are many, many choices in footwear that would have improved her outfit.

    PaulaOctober 26th, 2013  6:48 PM

  • I have two old pairs of Adidas which I’ve been wearing again recently.
