On My Mind

A Very Merry Merry

Christmas morning, it’s been a bit of a mad dash to get here. Blissfully, I’m the only one up with my coffee and three sleeping dogs at my feet. I still don’t know why I end up wrapping at midnight Christmas Eve, I pride myself on being more organized than that. Perhaps it’s a tradition, like sugar cubes for the reindeer.

Of KiC’s four years, this has been my favorite because I now have a dialogue with you, the readers. It feels more like a community and I cherish the back and forth. Thank you for reading my posts and weighing in on everything from clogs to parenting. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas!

  • Preston, I hope you have a wonderful holiday with your family. Thank you for giving me the gift of kic all year. It is my favorite place to go everyday for a little fashion tidbit. You have added to my closet in many ways. While this may not seem so spiritual, it has added much pleasure to my life! Xoxo

Former Ford model, perhaps we once met many moons ago. And an equestrian. Bravo…a lovely blog. Looking forward to next years posts. How about getting a bit personal in 2014…college experience with daughters, living in country versus city, favorite eateries in nyc etc…

    Merry Christmas

  • In a sea of “high / low” blogs out there that seem to encourage people to just buy buy buy disposable fashion it was such a treat to discover your blog with a focus on quality and timeless pieces. You have cost me a small fortune, but I love your taste, voice and style. Merry Christmas to you!

  • Merry Christmas Preston, and to your family and to all your readers also! Your blog is a wonderful thing Preston, and I really look forward to receiving it each day. Love from Justine, Australia. (Ps Since you raised the tantalising subject, I thought I’d add that I wore my new Swedish Hasbeens black peep toe super high clog sandals today. It’s summer here and hot, and these shoes work beautifully in the climate.)

  • Hi Preston,

  • I hear you on the wrapping. This year I bought these unique rolls of paper all somewhat color coordinated thinking they would look so nice together under the tree. Instead I found myself using only two of them and mad dashing to get them done late yesterday afternoon. Throwing a bow on a few items and just using gift bags. To look at me at the holidays, I don’t look like a Christmas person. Ironically, I really am big on Christmas. I just get totally overwhelmed by it. I can’t live up to the standard I set. In any event, I was a nice day and I had my 3 kids and husband with me. Sounds pretty perfect after all! Merry Christmas to you !

  • Happy Christmas Preston to you and your family. I started reading your blog daily 18 months ago while in bed recovering from a broken foot. You cheered me up and not only do I look forward to your posts and feel I have a connection with – it really makes me think about putting together an outfit and feel good with the way I now dress . I, like a lot of your readers particularly enjoy the “the Runaround Chic” pieces but all your lifestyle pieces also. I cook for my family from Gwyneth Paltrow’s cookbook all the time and love it. I must say I have purchased so many pieces at your suggestion…..the foot has completely healed and I feel I have great pieces now in my closet that are stylish and classic that are key pieces that I can now add to each season. Thank-you so much for all your hard work and I look forward to your blog in 2014.

  • Dateline: Kailua, Oahu, Hawaii for Christmas.
Everyone is friendly! Everyone is wishing us Merry Christmas!
Riding bikes to and from town, even the dourest looking man
wished us Merry Christmas, and we loved sending the missive back to him.
To visit a place with so much good will and cheer is a gift in itself.
One of my daughters tried to get me to continue the PC “happy holidays” greeting,
but that blew out the door at the Whole Foods register, Long’s Drugs, Starbucks and all the local
food establishments we have bought from.
p.s. wrapping presents late at night on Xmas eve is fun! Drink hot toddy’s or scotch and put a bow on it!

  • Finally checking my email after a hectic but wonderful Christmas. I hope you had a very Merry Christmas and I wish you the very best in the New Year. Going to Paso Robles (California coastal area) tomorrow for a week of wine tasting–wearing gray, black, white, with accents of pink and burgundy. Thanks for helping me organize my wardrobe!
