On The Hunt For

My Spring Wish List

Last spring I focused on updating my basics and now I’m set in that department. So this year I’m excited to add a few gorgeous items to my wardrobe. The pieces I want for everyday-wear are the Céline shirtdress and the Valentino khaki boxy top (a shape I still adore). The more indulgent pieces I’m craving are, tops from Dries, a crocheted capelet from The Row, and one of Marc’s incredible jackets from his final Vuitton show. Each is timeless in it’s own way. And let’s not forget the Isabel Marant slides and Valentino wrap choker, the finishing touches on my spring wish list.

Clockwise: Dries Van Noten look, Céline shirtdress and hobo, The Row capelet, Isabel Marant slides, Dries Van Noten look, Valentino choker and top, Louis Vuitton jacket and jeans.

  • I am excited about the move from what an Edit article referred to as “the trussed up turkey look,” to “relaxed ease.” The shirtdress and boxy top have couture sophistication and a polished wholesomeness to them. It seems these shapes will be gorgeous on women of all ages.

  • I would also love to buy The Row cape – also adore the camisole you featured by them and decided to snap up quickly before it sold out in my size in London. They weren’t really on my radar before I started reading your blog, so thank you. I must tell you that, lately, when I’m not sure about something I think: would Preston wear it? I think you are saving me from myself!

  • The Celine shirtdress is perfection. Is it out yet? Curious if you’re going to get the slides in the black or brownish color?

  • I’ll be getting those Marant slides in Camel. Here in Paris we are still in sale mode but I’m heading over to her shop tomorrow to see if they’re in.

  • Kathy, I’m leaning toward the slides in camel…

  • I LOVE so many of these picks Preston. I am wondering how you or other readers decide or prioritize. I have learned through the years to buy items that I believe will have longevity or cost/wear items. When I was younger I bought “it” items that for the most part fit my lifestyle, but made several costly mistakes on items that looked great, but sat in my closet as my husband and I ran 3 young boys around to sporting events. I especially love The Row poncho. How will you incorporate this into your wardrobe? Will you add in any of the Valentino medallion pieces as well? I can’t decide if i think those are too “Runway 14” and next year I will not appreciate the print as much.

  • Hi Mary, I ordered the Valentino medallion-print dress, it could be a forever piece in my wardrobe. The Row capelet will be a fortune I predict. I would wear it over little cotton dresses, but will have to see.
