The Mini Bag Cont.

After posting last week on the popular mini bag, I started to look for one in earnest.  I’ve narrowed my search to these two. The top priority is that my wallet, which is long, must fit inside. The main reason I rarely carry a Céline clutch is that it’s too small and I don’t like having my cash, cards, and license loose.

Both of these bags have the same dimensions, although the Saint Laurent is structured which may make it less stuffable. Either would be great.

  • Love mini Pandora. It’s currently #1 on my list of black bags for this endless. Saint Laurent is great but a bit too stiff. I am still faithful to my Hermes Evelyne in blue jean for the summer

  • Love the Givenchy Pandora so much. Garance Dore was carrying the YSL at ALT Summit this week. C’est tres chic!
Clearly, you cannot go wrong with either.

  • Love the structure of the Saint Laurent, but I’m not a fan of the textured leather of the Givenchy. Curious what your opinion of the Hermes Constance is. I’ve been on the hunt for a smaller cross body bag and have the same problem with the long wallet. Either choice is very chic and I look forward to finding out which one you choose! Cheers, Laura

  • Both bags are wonderful. The Mini Pandora is so versatile and casual, and a must when I go sightseeing on a trip, and the YSL is so elegant for anytime. You can’t go wrong with either bag! Very chic!

  • Since you already have a Pandora (medium size), I say go for the SL. Can you be convinced to get a Celine box in medium size? I love mine (charcoal grey with gold hardware)…

  • I would still consider the Gucci Soho. The colour of the hardware is perfect…a rich looking ‘soft gold’.

I fit a full size SQUARE chanel wallet, I pad mini, eye glasses, makeup bag and keys. It’s tight but they call fit. Remove your I pad in the evening. Perfect.

I was in a shop the other day, the sakes person told me they make a soho wallet to fit the bag too.

  • what about the Balenciaga mini papier? Have been thinking about that one…

    KayliJanuary 27th, 2014  2:19 PM

  • I agree – I have a Celine box in medium with the gold hardware in black and love it!

  • I love the smaller bags too, but can’t seem to get everything into them. And I still love (and obviously need) my big totes and shoulder bags. As a result, I was hesitant to invest in an expensive small bag so I compromised and found a great vintage bag (have no idea of the designer) with a shoulder strap, the same size as the Saint Laurent..but at a fraction of the cost.

  • I put all my stuff (including a long wallet and a check book) in the mini Pandora and though it fit, the configuration of the zipper made it really hard to get my hand in to take my stuff out. And the Pandora strap is so thin, it is not so ergonomic and I think it would twist around.

  • Well, both bags are clearly fabulous. I’d go for the Givenchy mainly because it is slouchier and cooler. And I love the double zippers!

  • I found a beautiful small, structured handbag at Ferragamo in Florence in 2012–it isn’t cross body, but hangs perfectly on my shoulder or forearm. I love the lighter weight, and because it is structured, it can sit on a banquette, table, or back of a chair without being overwhelming or ostentatious. I am officially hooked on smaller bags–forces me to pare down and travel light. I often cheat and keep a tote bag on the passenger seat and grab this smaller bag as I head out the door.

  • After reading your post on small bags I have pulled out my Mandarina Duck Tank cross body bag and briefcase to match !!
    Classic practical chic etc
