It Item

Too Nude

After a beauty event this morning (yep, I went to a beauty event), I did a little real-time shopping. Often, when I order from BG or Barneys online, I do the return at the store. This gets me into an actual (non-virtual) store where I can see, touch, and try on items I’ve been considering. Like the Tod’s fringe sandals in nude.

Sadly, the color is so close to my own skin tone (more pink than beige), it doesn’t work. The sandals are too nude on me. But the saddle color is more than fine, as is white. Since these will be my nod to the fringe trend, I will give the color some thought.  TBC.

  • Thanks for the update Preston. Were the saddle color at BG or Barneys?

  • They were at Tod’s, next door to Barneys on Madison…

  • Have you seen Acnes sandals from a couple of seasons ago? I think they were called Ambrosia. Great sandal with fringed tassels.

  • I know exactly what you mean about the nude. The white appeal greatly because of their timeliness and freshness to the eye, while the saddle are forever with a capital F…..depends what you’re looking for.
I don’t know about you, (so no presumptions) but I only struggle over shoe decisions when I want a pair to do too many things at once.

  • Nude is a tough color to get right. What may look great on one person will look awful on another. Plus nude really looks good with a little tan so it’s hard to judge now with pale feet. I do love the nude Tod’s so I’ll have to see them in person and see if they work.

Re: Christina’s comment…yes I remember the Acne Ambrosia. I have them and still love them! Wish I would have bought a second color.

  • Nude? All depends on the color of one’s skin, no?

  • Preston – posts like these are one of the biggest reasons why I love your blog. There are no shortage of blogs out there that preach curation and post pretty item after pretty item (and don’t get me wrong, those can be a lot fun), but there far fewer where the blogger follows up on an item and truly evaluates whether or not it’s worth adding to her closet. It’s so refreshing to follow your measured train of thought and it also helps me to better evaluate my purchases. I look forward to hearing about which fringe item you decide ultimately belongs in your closet. Best of luck!
